Mijas poop scoop patrol gets wind in sails

 

PLAINCLOTHES police in Mijas have caught 10 dog owners not clearing up after their pets in just two days. The move, which also includes obligatory microchipping, is part of a continuing clampdown on the mess sullying the streets. Five plainclothes officers are currently in action and the town hall is waiting for the go-ahead to increase the number to 20. “We have no other choice but to use plainclothes police for this task,” said coordinator Francisco Montilla. Offenders are facing fines of between 750 and 1,500 euros under local bylaws.
