Ibiza priest arrested for allegedly abusing pupils at his school

A priest on Ibiza has been removed from his position as director of a religious school in Sant Antoni de Portmany following his arrest for allegedly abusing some of his pupils.

The Baleares High Court of Justice released information on Wednesday that Father José Luis, who is also the parish priest for Sant Josep, was released from custody after appearing before a judge on Monday afternoon. He has however been banned from visiting the school and must not go near any of the pupils who reported the alleged abuse.

It’s understood from El Mundo newspaper that the Ibiza bishopric has ordered its own parallel investigation to that being undertaken by the court, but will not be removing the priest from his parish.
