Budget airline Jet2.com has announced it will be boosting its service between Edinburgh and Malaga, thanks to high demand for the service, launched in December 2010.

The announcement sees the service move up to three flights per week from the Scottish capital to the Costa del Sol, thanks to an additional Monday morning flight. Cheap flights to Malaga came top of flight bookings released recently by credit card company Visa Europe, and the Spanish destination has proved a hit with Scottish travellers.

The additional service will run from May 23, departing Edinburgh at 9am and landing in Spain at 1.15pm. The return flight will depart from Malaga at 1.50pm and arrive back in Edinburgh at 4.05pm. Existing flights offered by Jet2.com depart on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and will commence on April 2.

Jet2.com said the new flights would give passengers more flexibility when booking flights to the Costa del Sol, allowing them to take a short break or plan a longer stay.
