Ryanair snubs the Junta de Andalucía and continues to charge for printing boarding passes
Ryanair snubs the Junta de Andalucía and continues to charge for printing boarding passes: "Low cost airline, Ryanair, has decided to ignore complaints voiced by the Junta de Andalucía regarding the airline charging 40 € to print boarding passes which passengers have failed to print online at home.
A statement from the airline said ‘If payment is not made for the printing of the boarding pass, these passengers will not be allowed to pass through security or to travel’.
Ryanair says that the Andalucía Government ‘really does not know what it is saying’ adding there is no law which penalises the charge for the printing of a boarding pass. It claims that the charge only affects 1% of passengers.
The consumers department of the Andalucía Government said that the printing clause ‘is abusive as regulations oblige airlines to issue a ticket to passengers for free, as this document represents the only one which gives a right to transport’. It has issued a warning that any airline who charges passengers to print the boarding pass faces a fine of 30,000 €."
